Throughout the history of the University of Texas at Dallas and the Erik Jonsson School of Engineering and Computer Science, Texas Instruments has been a critical partner in the success of the institution.

Their efforts to advance UT Dallas’ reputation include a $332,400 grant in 2008 from the TI Foundation to create a TI Science and Technology Innovation Fund, a nearly $1.15 million gift to support semiconductor research in 2009, and a $250,000 gift to support the Texas Biomedical Device Center in 2014 from the Texas Instruments Alumni Association.

The creation of the Texas Instruments Innovation Lab in 2015 has enabled the students in the Jonsson School to participate in innovative solutions to real-world electronic and electromechanical engineering problems. The lab is utilized by the Electrical Engineering department to present classes. The TI team also uses this lab to conduct TI Tuesdays, an opportunity for students to interact with TI recruiters and engineers, for both networking and learning.

Texas Instruments has also been a major recruiting partner for the Jonsson School, providing training to work at TI for especially promising students and sponsoring 44 UTDesign Capstone projects since 2016.

In October 2020, Texas Instruments announced a $5 million gift to create an endowment to support early career faculty members in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering within the Erik Jonsson School of Engineering and Computer Science.

A big shout out to this partnership!
