In addition to a first-place winning team, another UTDesign Capstone team won second place at the 2020 American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) Manufacturing Science and Engineering Conference. The BMEN/MECH team created a Pharmacy-Based Blister Package that enables customized prescriptions and allows the company to sell more packaging film.

The company sponsor Klöckner Pentaplast is a food and pharmaceutical packaging company that focuses on the manufacturing of films for their packaging. For this project, the UTDesign team was tasked with developing a device that could bring an industrial/large-scale process into the retail pharmacy. The device solution was able to count and sort the pills and as a result of the process was able to provide the user with the end product.
