FDA regulated automated insulin delivery systems are highly limited and overly expensive. The project focuses on using widely available insulin pumps and CGMs alongside affordable Bluetooth to radio microcontroller to create a looping system for type I diabetics needing insulin therapy. The system will automatically deploy insulin into the body of the patient when their insulin levels are low. We will also have a UI application utilizing mobile app technologies which will record the data from the insulin pump and CGM to manage its status of operation, amount of insulin being pumped into the end user, and update deployment dosages to fit the user. The mobile app will also act as a visual monitor for the system’s operations. The four main components needed for this project will be a Phone, Microcontroller, Insulin Pump, Constant Glucose Monitor (CGM).
