UTDesign Hosts Fall 2024 Sponsor Kick-Off Breakfast

UTDesign hosted its Fall 2024 Sponsor Kick-Off Breakfast on September 4th, welcoming new and returning sponsors to the UTDesign Senior Design Capstone program. The event brought together sponsors, faculty advisors, and mentors to discuss roles, responsibilities, and best practices for guiding students through their upcoming projects.
Dr. Miguel Razo, CS faculty director, emphasized the pivotal role of sponsors in the program, stating, “The sponsors are a source of knowledge.They’ve been doing this for many years. Think about crossing a river; the sponsors are the stepping stones that the students are putting their foot on to take the next step, which is why sponsors are important.”
Chad Dozier from Caterpillar, a returning sponsor, shared his enthusiasm for working with UTD students for a second year. “One of the things I really like with working with UTDallas is the enthusiasm and creativity of the students. Giving them free reign and watching them unleash that creativity really gave me the confidence to come back this year with four sponsored projects,” he said.
Anna Taylor from Sempris, a first-time sponsor, expressed her excitement about engaging with UTD’s Computer Science program. “We are looking forward to tapping into the amazing talent that the UTD CS program has and seeing the talent that is here locally in Dallas to hopefully integrate into our company one day,” Taylor remarked.
The kick-off breakfast served as an opportunity for both new and returning sponsors to connect with faculty, setting the stage for a successful Capstone experience this fall.
